The digital paintings are original renderings with no references, using photoshop, incorporated using a white solid background, basic tools of shapes, and manipulation of layers with transparency instruments. What separates these artworks from other formats and mediums I work in remains the purity, minimalism, and non-objectivity in the execution. I would like to think of my digital paintings as a case study in structure, a subject and concept which remains a basis for my entire portfolio.
I like to create these digital minimalist works because I wish to de-stimulate the viewer (and myself). These works are built upon the philosophy of stoicism (an ancient precursor to minimalism) and the concept of negative visualization, actively imaging worst case scenarios so you appreciate what you have. When we look at this digital work below and appreciate the purity of the forms and solid color schematics, we apply stoicism. If we imagine a scenario where adding complexities to the work would cause a disruption in the delicate balance of the composition then the viewer will grow to appreciate the art more. You wouldn't add artificial flavors to a bottle of Evian water, would you?
